I was on a date with this guy recently, and I mentioned how when my manager puts food in the break room, numbers seem to go up every time. He talked about how at tech companies like Google, they have rooms just for food and candy, and their companies are booming. I said, see that? Retail should take a hint. And he said, “Well, there’s a difference between skilled jobs and unskilled jobs. You have an unskilled job.” I told him, “Then you do it. You go into work every day, force yourself to smile, and deal with people who look down on you, yet expect you to never make a mistake while making shit pay and zero incentive besides being told that you suck every month when you don’t make your goals. Go on. I dare you.” Needless to say, we haven’t gone on another date.
